Miuz is an Italian gelateria located in Amsterdam  that produces artisanal gelato from scratch, using only fresh, locally sourced, and selected ingredients. Miuz is committed to contributing to the world by making responsible choices that benefit the environment and its community. The gelateria uses recyclable packaging materials, and works with local suppliers as much as possible to reduce transport emissions and support local businesses.




This is a full-time on-site role for a Head Gelato Chef located in Amsterdam. The Head Gelato Chef will lead our gelato creation team, overseeing the production of high-quality gelato, sorbets, semifreddi, and pralines, adhering to our established recipes and production guidelines. The role encompasses overseeing the gelato-making process, ensuring consistent taste and texture, and upholding the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. Collaboration with our production team to innovate and develop new gelato flavors and products are vital aspects of this position.


1. Gelato Production

  • Operate gelato-making equipment, including batch freezers and pasteurizers.
  • Monitor and control temperatures, mixing times, and ingredient proportions during the gelato-making process.
  • Maintain precise records of production details, including quantities produced and ingredients used.

2. Quality Control:

  • Prepare gelato and sorbet bases according to standardized recipes.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on gelato batches to ensure a consistently delightful taste and texture.
  • Identify and promptly address any issues that might impact the quality of our gelato.

3. Inventory Management

  • Assist in managing gelato ingredient inventory, reporting low stock levels.
  • Coordinate with the supervisor for timely and accurate ordering of gelato ingredients.

4. Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance on gelato-making equipment for proper functioning.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues promptly.

5. Health and Safety Compliance

  • Ensure unwavering compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations in all production areas.
  • Foster a culture of safety among production staff, enforcing safety protocols, and providing necessary training.
  • Regularly conduct safety inspections and promptly address any identified hazards or risks.


  • Proven experience in a professional gelato production environment, or in a similar role within the food production industry. Experience as a pastry chef is also welcomed, even you do not have experience with gelato making
  • A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards in a production environment.
  • Experience and passion in recipe development, including flavor profiling
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage inventory, schedules, and workplace safety protocols.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain unwavering quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead and train a team and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner, being open for new ideas and improvement
  • A passion for creating gelato that exceeds customer expectations and a love for the art of gelato making that will inspire and motivate the team to succeed.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
